Sony Mobile : The Journey

The camera technolgy packed into the latest Xperia phone makes it a highly versatile film-making tool.

We persuaded Bafta and Emmy-award winning filmmaker Mateo Willis (whose credits include Blue Planet II) to direct the project – briefing influencers and helping shape the edit, turning a disparate collection of thousands of clips into a mesmerising story.

'The Journey' takes viewers on a beautiful, immersive trip through nature over the course of a day.

The footage was captured exclusively on Xperia handsets by influencers in a host of different countries and shows off features like Super slow motion and Xperia’s beautiful depth of colour and original music, specially composed by Belgian DJ Poldoore.

The campaign also saw us shooting Mateo (shooting wild horses) in Iceland and in the studio for a series of tutorial videos, plus the creation of an incredible number of social assets, supporting both our film and the current Xperia atl campaign.

In numbers: • 35 influencers • Over 15 hours of raw footage • Hundreds of still images • 8 weeks’ worth of social posts across Twitter, Instagram & Facebook • 4 x tutorial videos: Super slow motion, Colour, Movement, Style • Intro video and Trailer video • Various social edits of the full film Plus over 100 assets posted out by influencers on their own channels.
